The studio

How this house works.

Who we are, the order the work runs in, and what the standard demands. The list of what we do not do comes last, and it is the part most people should read first.

In short

STUDIO KIRILOV is a technology and management consulting studio in Sofia. It builds custom software, leads digital transformations and teaches teams to work with artificial intelligence, while its own games grow under the same roof. One house answers for every layer. Excellence is never an accident.

Clients sit in Bulgaria and across the European Union. The work runs in English or Bulgarian, on site when that helps and remotely the rest of the time.

The order

How an engagement runs.

It opens with a measurement: two to three weeks at a fixed price, and they leave you knowing where the company stands and what every next step costs. Walk away after them and the findings walk with you.

Then comes the bearing. A roadmap ordered by what each move is worth and by what it has to wait for, priced step by step and plain enough that another firm could pick it up and carry on.

The build runs in sprints, and every second week you see something that works. Adoption gets a place in the plan and people on it: your own teams are taught to carry the work on, and how much of it they actually use is measured.

What remains is care, and its response times stand published before anybody asks for them. The whole road has one name, MERIDIAN, and it is the same one whichever door you came in by.

The standard

What “nothing left to improve” means here.

Nothing leaves this studio until it has been read again cold, measured with an instrument and looked at with an eye, all three separately.

Decisions get written down in the hour they are taken, so that nobody has to reconstruct them from memory two quarters later.

When something breaks, the message comes from us, and not because somebody forced it out. The message says how far it reaches and what we are doing about it.

And work we cannot do at that level, we turn down. Half of it done well is still half.

The edges

What we do not do, and why.

A list of services tells you what a studio would like to sell. This one tells you where it stops.

  • We do not staff large enterprise-system rollouts. Those are won on the size of the bench, and the bench was never the point here. Where we earn our keep is on your side of the table while somebody else runs one.
  • We do not run a round-the-clock security centre. A night desk is somebody’s whole profession, staffed and rostered for it. Our advice reaches as far as governance and no further.
  • We do not take on large-scale process outsourcing. That trade is priced by volume. This one is priced by attention, and attention does not scale.
  • We do not rent out people by the head. We sell what the work produces. An hour billed inside another company’s team produces nothing we can stand behind.
  • We do not build cheap template websites. At the cheap end the market is full and nobody in it wins on quality, so we work at the far end of the same street.
  • We do not sell translation and localisation on their own. They happen inside a product we are already building. There the words have a screen to sit on and somebody who answers for them.
  • We do not run penetration tests. Marking your own homework is not an audit, so partners carry that part.
  • We take no commission from a vendor. You are the only party paying for the advice, which is the only way it stays advice.

The people

One name, and nowhere to pass it.

The studio speaks as a studio, but the name on it belongs to one person, and a name is the one thing in a company that cannot be reorganised away.

Whoever advised you is whoever builds, and they are still on it when the thing is running, so no second team ever asks you to explain your business from the start.

The amount of work taken on is set by how much one name can answer for. That is where the list of what the studio does not do comes from. The work is handed on in writing rather than remembered. A job that needs a narrow pair of hands gets a named partner, and you hear about that before it starts.

Clients outside Bulgaria are on the same terms. Sofia sits an hour ahead of central Europe and two ahead of the United Kingdom, so most of the working day runs alongside yours. The invoice comes from Bulgaria whichever country the work is in.
